Well it seems like...bought a blue club truck from palmy .had heaps of fun in it.did the motu safari and met larry the landrovers dad glen.he was in my ear the hole trip . The taupo 1000 is there to be done mike ,its there to be done ...why dont u give it a go.
My lovely wife also said why dont u mike its there to be done.so i thought how hard can it be.... Im gunna do a few mods to the truck so i can do a few winch challenges anyway
So i thought i would start by turning the four point cage into a six point .but one thing let to another and i no have a full exo .my wife calls it a jungle jim.
Next i keep an eye out on trademe and buy up a full set of panels ,as my truck is cut down in the back ive modified the rear panels and front gaurds. And the truck is now lime green with black bars.
Its got a safari pto winch on thefront and warn electric on the back.i went for a twin maim hoop and put a fairlead between the bars so i can run the rear winch rope and pull my self back on my feed if i fall over got 30m of plasma rope on each winch
Then it was springs and shocks.talked to many people but ended up getting mamaku 4x4 bring some stuff in from the uk.marcel and his wife are fantastic people to deal with.iwanted to keep every thing the same as possible.so we went twin shocks all round so i bought 10 front shocks so i had two spare and i changed the rear top mounts on the chassis so it would work.we replaced all the bushes.mod the front swivel. Housings to do a four deg castor correction.we have also fitted bigger vented rotors and calipers and flash brake pads.front and rear.changed hand brake leaver to cable useing disco 2 leaver and fitted a 110 handbrake to rear of transfure case.the center diff was shagged so we rebuilt that.been through the transfercase fixed that.
I used one of those air switches like trucks used for the splliter on the eaton two speed so the center diff lock is now on the top of the gear leaver because when im belted in i cant reach the factory switch on the floor.
We fitted race seats and belts, which was a pain in the arse the bolt in the belts
Radiator is mounted in the rear along with the spare .
Now the motor . Was gunna build a p76 but went off that idea and wanted to supercharge the 3.5 got a price of 6 k mint .so booked truck in .went there to give him some money then he said i got it wrong its 12 k .so as i had already had some p76 heads that tony marsh ported and bigger valves in stock, went back to the p76 way. So motor has been pre assembled before getting balanced and got cc and tge compression works out to 10.9/1 to high for pump gas so now gunna have to whip some off the top of the pistons.to get down to 10.2/1 f,,k only six weeks to go till the taupo.
We are going to use the rover injection ,as i found a nice man in chch who had the spacers we could take a template off and get water cut.
So if we done our home work right with compresion head flow cam the motor should come to life in a big way at 2200rpm and pull through to 6200rpm as its old school motor tech gunna limit revs to 5500rpm.to help it last .hoping to get a real 250 to 275 hp but shit loads of talk.we gunna use a simple mega squirt computer to run fuel and use the hei dizzy set up i already have
My co driver is my son in law second driver classic cruiser jase any nibby is his co offender.all because some one said it was there to be done ....cheers glen.. Hope to be finished before the race starts but if we not ive just got a few rolls of duct tape and a big box of cable ties and we are off .big thanks to all the people that have helped and given advice weather it was needed or not lol :D

Set up an account with imageshack and get an imageshack uploader app like this one.

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/upload- ... 62547?mt=8

Set your image size when you upload it and make sure its no more than 600 pixels wide :D

Then just copy the image URL to your post as normal.

Hi Mike, I would like to say well done and what a good looking vehicle ------ but it's a ROVER and I keep tripping over my tongue when I go to say it  . Anyway was the old Blue one from Nelson and built up by Sav ?, if not he did build one 15 yrs or more ago that resembled that one, I'm sure Old Blue , Richard and Smurf would no the vehicle I'm talking about.

THE GOOD OLD DAYS,

FITZY.

mean green truck mate, cage looks great.are diffs 3.54?my mate ran p76 efi mega jolt and cam lot of tourqe but not like to rev with 4.7 diffs and 35"tires ,went back to rover v8 as p76 ran out of puff round 5500rpm with 4.7 diffs.hope you not find same problem with your p76 v8 ,looks like a very wicked truck though.

Just the standard 3.4 what ever it is .its got awarm ish 3.5 injected mtr a.and it revs hard to 5500rpm.your mates p76 sounds like most p76.thats why we spent alot of money puting in chev valves, and making those heads flow real well.there are also cams and cams.we have put the flywheel on a diet, uped the compresion and have milled the block 30thou and the pistons stick out 5thou at tdc.so we have good squash .our cam is ground so it pulls between 2000rpm and 5700rpm .5500rpm is plenty of revs for us.dont think my balls are big enough to do much more than 180 in a dirty old rangerover on a gravel road .so we will have enough power .. Not sure how big jase and nibbys balls are lol maybe they could tell us
