nice to read something positive for a change. hopefully there will be some arrests and some crims off the streets

Good news that they are making inroads. Perhaps the metal place was negligent and didn't do its home work or perhaps worse, but I guess it will all come out some how.

Bad news is they are just down the road from me and I was going to grab some bits from there in a few weeks - perhaps they will be closed...

Rather these places operated within the law and did things by the book (might have nabbed some crims sooner if that had've).

its a start and it proves the police are not ignoring it.
everything starts off small so hopefully ends up the same result as the huge busts a few months ago in the lower north island

It is also a possible bad sign of the 100 plus vehicles stolen down there recently that they have been stripped down and the chassis cut up as apposed to be reborn with new plates and tags. No possibility of the owners getting there pride and joy back

About 6 cars there (marked and unmarked) and the usual characters who work there hanging around outside the gates. I'm guessing there might be a few more questions about vehicles before this is over. Not many patrols and lux's but maybe this is a tipping point for the police and they can nail down suppliers etc which might lead into the ring doing the bizo in Canterbury.

I reckon for all the hours put in by the police should be charged to the criminals, they do cost analysis already of operations, so would be hard to work out.

Good that all these long term operations are finally coming to good conclusions. Things take a while.

Would be interesting to see if these guys being out of business has affected the theft levels (has the number of stolen vehicles dropped). Interesting to hear Pick a part got picked up with a few stolen vehicles too (allegedly). Seems all these wrecker guys are either too trusting, too lapse in recording and reporting, or just down right dodgy and greedy.
