what 35s??
what 35s??
Hey guys my im going to be getting some new 35s for my hilux.I just cant work out which tyres to get.At the moment its between creepy crawlers and kl71s. I want to be able to use them on road and still be good offroad. So which tyres would you recomend? also cant what rims size 15x10 or 15x8.Thanks Adam
Re: what 35s??
15x8 rims will hold the bead better when running low tyre pressures and they are a bit lighter. No need for 10" wide rims really.

Second that on the 8 inch rims...
As for tyres... What part of the country and you in... What terrain will be the majority of your off roading?
I run KL71's in a 35x12.5... Good road manners. Good in the sand. So so in mud. Useless in clay based mud and scary on slippery rocky tracks. (Stadia type tracks)
I am sure you will get all sorts of opinions...Some saying they are great in mud and some not....etc etc etc... Good luck !

Re: what 35s??
creepys will out perform 71's offroad, they will be perfect in gravelly sandy soil and ok in sticky mud. I ran mine on 10's and they still crowned a bit. On 8's they'll stay on the rim a bit better but the profile over the tyre width will be quite round so could wear out the centers onroad. I doubt they would last as long on road as 71's
They are a bias ply tyre so can like to vibrate at road speed and be a bit hard to balance as well as being quite heavy.
I still liked mine in 35's though.

what truck do you have? do you think my hilux ln106 will be heavy enough for them as people say they are more designed for heavy trucks. Thanks heaps for the replies. Adam
Re: what 35s??
Before buying any tyres go to manufactures web site & find out the actual size of the tyres not all 35's are actually 35.
The KL71 sure arent , are more like 34.
Also KL71 tend to wear very fast on the road if not at correct pressure.

Re: what 35s??
kumho site says 34.8 inches for the KL71 so pretty much a 35, seems most 35's are all 34.6-34.8.
I have KL71 and as a all purpose tyre I rate them, I run them at 40psi on road and down to 15psi depending on terrain.
Like any mud tyre you cant really compare to a simex or silverstone off the road in the hard stuff, but then driving in sand and on the road I would perfer not to be on them.
KL71 get my vote as a good around tyre .

Re: what 35s??
Run mostly on a swb patrol and saw some time on a mwb cruiser. Seemed fine. Sold em to someone with a hilux and he reckons they're good, bit of a step up from mudstars though so couldn't give you a good answer with em being used on a lux.
Re: what 35s??
looks like i will get the crawlers. the only thing I'm worried about is how they will handle at 100? I don't want it to be dangerous on the road. cheers

Got them on my Surf, Ran fine at 100kph. just make sure your steering is as good as it can be, alignment, pressure even in all four, etc.
Re: what 35s??
sweet my hilux is getting cross over steering so that should help
Re: what 35s??
Get some BFG KM2's they are an awesome tyre.

28 -30 on road I think. then down as low as 10 off road, on a 10inch rim.
Re: what 35s??
I ran mine as above. sweet at 100k on the road just took a lot of lead to balance. Allow a bit more stopping distance in the wet. The couple times i had to stop in a hurry they just wanted lock up and slide.
