Thought it would be a good place

First job was to pull the old four point cage off and build an Exo Image
[img]http://img163.imageshack.us/img163/9303/cu4e.jpg
[/img]

It took a while to nut out the cross bracing ,so cut two holes through floor rolled some tube and welded to chassis
Image
Then it was time to mount spare
Image
Roof cross bracing
Image
Time to paint

It was a mission but I'm stoked with the out come

As we wanted to run simex 35" had to trim the front guards
Image
Dents out and primed
Image

As the rear of the chassis had been chopped of I had to shorten and re manufacture the rear guards it took a lot of fu&kin around to get them to look factoryish. But got there in the end .
Image

Then rubbed it all down and top coat time . Used the same colour paint as the green taxis but left the white out of the paint and got a deeper lime green

Image

Was a bit tricky getting rear guards behind the Exo . Had to bolt corners on after that was a mission .
Image
Image

Don't look at the other green convirtible rangerover I been doing that for six years . Now I can post pics I will do a build thread for that puppy

Picked up the block girdle idea I seen on the nett for a small block ford. So I re hashed it to fit a rover bottom end and got it water jet cut out. Lookin flash ,and fits.
Image

Image

Then splashed out.on a flash stud kit and nuts

Image

Ford Cleveland ones fitted

Then picked up all engine stuff that got balanced
They also took 1.5kgs of the fly wheel. It's a fine line between not enough off and to much .
Image

Now the plate is getting milled so the big end blocks fit in nice and snug
Will also be able to fit another 1.5l of oil in the sump . Now I should baffle the sump as well. More jobs less time

The front bump stops mounted . There was no room to mount them so they bump on on the diff so welded a plate on radius arm seems to work good Image

We have had a couple of bad days getting the motor back together . Starting with a big fxxk up that I have to own 12 months ago I sent the p76 heAds away to get ported . Not even I sent some rover ones away by mistake . But all good the only diffrance in one row off bolts that we don't need to use and they oil the rockers difrent p76 through lifters and hollow rods rover has oil holes in head . So we use p76 lifters and rods .
Next problem is because we got so much lift in the new cam our install height is not standard so made packers to lift rocker gear up 1.2 mm . Dial cam in which changes valve time ing and inlet valve hit the piston. Look hard and u can see indent in the playdo.

Image

So I cut a valve stem of a valve welded it to a cutter made a hight jig . So put stem through head bolt head on and drill the piston in exact place as

valve hits. And it worked.

Image

Image

Do this eight times and then tidy pistons with a dia grinder. And that's how to waste a day when every day counts when u only got 15 days til t1000 start .

Put the 31.10.5x15 tyres on that we are going to run for the t1000
Big thanks to ace 4wd in ch ch for there generous help with the rubber . The smaller wheels and the increase in hp will help us out of the corners

Image

Image

Now off the hoist with full weight on wheels

Made up a front and rear driveshaft hoop. They need a clean up and paint

Front

Image

This one bolts on in the same place under the diff as the steering damper. As it travels up and down with diff it will never hit the driveshaft

Rear

Image

It bolts on to a factory bracket on the chassis

Another very frustrating day

Finished painted engine mount

Image

Empty hole

Image

Ready to go into empty hole

Image

The return pipe from rear radiator fouls on the extractor , so will have to run that down other chassis rail. And extractor is in the way of the drive shaft for pto winch . It seems to never end . So I need a super human effort tomoz :-)

Good luck mate. I guess you don't need a pto for Taupo, but the radiator will be hard to live with out.
Sounds like I wont be to busy on the Friday so if you have any little jobs still to do once you arrive at the event, don't hesitate to ask.

Well got the rear radiator pipe fabed up and tacked . Bolted headers on welded flanges on the headers and made exhaust

Image

Image

Image

Went to but dizzy in and noticed that it was not free . Pulled it apart weights were rusty as . So free up . Slipped into the hole and oil pick up was different . So made a jig up so I could press gear of both shafts and swap over . Was a lot easer writing about it than doing it

Image

Image

Starting to get over this two steps falword and one backwards. I wonder what Friday will have installed for me

Well it roars ,what a transformation.ran the cam in and then took it easy for 15 mins then drove it like i stole it...but only rev it to 5000 :D .have. Not loaded it up and given it death .but it rocks now.
105 kph in second 155 kph in third and it was only a short straight.so it was into forth and then brake but i ran out of speedo 8) and the stop sign was getting real close.
Its a real hand full in second gear in the drive way at mamuku 4wd

With the rear shocks being oposing rather than being side by side has taken care of the body roll .and the caster corecting mod gives mint steering one handed at 180kph

The money spent on the brakes was money well spent.

Was a very happy camper .had a wtf moment at 180 the winch was in free spool and there a bang and a very matalic rattle me first thought was a rod out the side ,but it was my winch rope and hook bashing the under. Side of truck .how luck was i that it did not pick up one of the drive shafts.

So today was all electrics.wire and shit .

We used the rover injection and computer not time to sort link out .but fitted a air fuel digital gauge it di not seem to lean over 150 kph but will just drive to the gauge .although it goes real well its like a v8 with a two barrel carb .

Exhaust is real loud but sounds mean two and a half to the y and then three " no muffler any one got any ideas on a muffler ....
