hi all i have a 1989 swb nissan safari 24v and one side of my headlights decided to stop working, so off to ripco to get my overpriced new h4, even though there didnt seem to be anything wrong with the old one i thought id splash out anyway. but still no go its the passenger side light and no power to both high and low beam. if it were a relay i would have thought it would have effected both lights right? the electrics are a little up the crapper on the truck as it is (supposedly to do with the box on the passengers side footwell) hope someone has a little more knowledge on this than i do cheers.

check the earth too. usually only one will fail to work if its on the positive side of the circuit. i.e switch/ relay.

had a good look today and couldnt find my issue, had me really annoyed, then reread threw what monstr said and blow me down it was the fuse. i feel really stupid now. although im not sure why but there was a 5amp fuse in one headlight spot and a 10amp in the other, should the 5amp one (this one blew) be a 10 amp? thanks again for your help.

Yep they should be a 10amp as your lights will draw a max of 10amps not 5....
