Hello,
After finding the tachometer connector to the sensor was damaged (and therefore, not working), I joined the wires with 3M wire connectors.
Now the tachometer needle moves, but only from 0 - 1000rpm. When its on 1000rpm, the acceleration is on its fullest.

used scotch locks ?
if so they are awful connectors. get some proper connectors or solder the connections. also if its dual wire check they are right way around. sometimes one is an earth and some use pulse rather than AC.

I did use scotch locks. I didn't want to solder them until I was sure it was working.
I tried inverting the connections, and it works the same. The tacho sensor goes on the injection pump:
