i was trying to get the bearings out of one dwn here in dunners but the guy wont sell them to me he's got sum issues a think. he wouldn't even sell me a wreaked but running truck to turn into an offroader. where as all the other places would have done so if they'd had something suitable there.

rear right hand side bearing and possibly other diff parts once i've got into it and seen what else is wrong with it.
the seals on it if they go around the bearing would/will they allow diff oil to leak out or is there another seal nearer to the diff head that stops the oil from getting down as far as the bearing?

At a guess I'd say they would be different considering the extra torque going thru them and the Feroza(NZ New) / Rocky (Import) is only a 1600.

eg My Diesel Grand Vitara has steels diffs etc instead of the standard alloy ones...

i think the diffs on mine might be steel they've had a few run ins with the volcanic rocks on the tracks we got round dunedin and won. they seem to have heaps of strenght. i'm going to SAS it once i've left uni an got a few $$$ be hind me also probly throw a V6 in it as well. been told i'm made doing it

Weak point is the gearbox & transfer case, found with mine mud and crap gets in the top of the diesel pump thingys (where the cable that attaches to the pedal thingy that makes it go faster when you press it) ....and it jams up amd makes it run funny, crc'ing it works for a whilst until the fan dries it, silicon spray doesn't work, am trying grease currently.....

What about a V6?, also change to eg hilux diffs as well if you are doing that as then you can get LSD's and difflocks etc.

yeh i thort that the gbox an tcase would be the weak points thats why i've formulated the plan of scrapping them and putting in new box etc aswell. just not to sure what would be good. what would fit and what a resonable price for what ever i do would be

just got me bearing fixed. had a look at it an it was F@#KED!!!!!!!!!! the outer casing had a 5mm bit missing, 2 bearings were gone, 2 were broken in half, the cage that holds them altogether was in 3 pieces, and the inner ring (bit the slips over the shaft/axle) was broken perfectly in half round the circumferance. cory in at pitstop had never seen anything like it before. thinks a bearing may have stopped rolling and wore throught it. also had to get the axle built up and machined down.
got the new bearing kit for $50 aposed to $200 from skf bearings and seals.
