Hi. Are you looking to compete or spectate?

Rallies are organized by Southland Land Rover Owners Club for Curio Bay, Southern Trail Blazers 4WD club for Landslip, and Tony Richardson/Mataura Scouts for their rally.

Curio Bay one is between Waikawa and Curio Bay, Landslip is on the hill above Pukerau (between Clinton and Gore) and Scouts one is off back road between Clinton and Mataura. They are pretty well sign posted off the main roads.

They start at 10am - two rounds and then usually and open round where any vehicle mods are ok.

In the first two rounds there are 4 classes - Standard, Modified, Greater Modified, Super Modified. Each has an increasing allowance of modifications.

To enter usually costs around $30-$40. Some charge for spectators, some don't.

These events are good fun and have been held for a while now - Landslip rally is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. They are usually pretty well supported also - around 20-30 (sometimes more) vehicles per event.

Nope you don't need to be a member of a club. Just show up, be scrutinized and your away laughing.

Away to do the final set up for the Waikawa/Curio Bay rally this arvo. Looks like it will probably be a little damp underfoot with the rain we've had this week! So should be a fun day tomorrow.

Cheers!
