aftermarket manifold for 1kzte

Has anyone use a manifold like this would it make much of a change? or just risk blowing a head even more

havn't used one and wouldn't want to.
while that style is ok for max power, the increase in length causes lag and turbo spooling issues. it would certainly add to head cracking issues depending on how its fueled.
choice of turbo is not great either. bigger laggy style turbo on a long length manifold is not what you want.

you want to keep the manifold as short and lowish in volume, and the turbo that has minimal lag (ie ballbearing)

I know the guy thats selling this and have been in this truck, he hasnt had any motor issues at all with the set up and by crist it moves, he knows his stuff and has it well set up

My understanding is the head cracks due to heat, if the manifold is flowing hot gas's away as well as, or better than the stock log, then no worries there.

As for ball bearing vs journal turbo's there's only about 5% difference in spool.

There's also an argument around exhaust gas's cooling in tube manifolds vs logs. If there was substantial loss of heat then you could get the manifold procoated/hpc coated to prevent that.

thats only part of it.

ct26 is one of the few carbon seal turbo's around. they are a lot slower than standard journal bearing let alone ball bearing.

the head issues and spool up are all related to fueling. laggy turbo setup makes the off boost tuning harder. its not about overall power or what rpm the turbo spools up but rather how fast can the turbo catch up to the amount of fuel your pouring into it.
the bigger the volume of the manifold, the longer the turbo takes to spin back up and the more cylinders you have firing in over fueled conditions which means more egt damage that accumulates and more stress on the turbo.
of course you can tune that out but that makes it slower.
its a lot easier to have a smaller manifold (even a non-log straight pipes to turbo type manifold would ok) and a quick spooling turbo, which allows you to fuel it a lot more aggressively or have bigger safety margin.

Very true.

Haven't had a huge deal to do with tuning electronically controlled pumps on a diesel and didn't know that about the ct26 - good to know.

Just saw the price he wants for that masterpiece, its not even a cheap upgrade.
I did hear rumors that Steve Murch has some nice and reasonably priced units for a 1kz either now or coming shortly.

May be a better option for an upgrade, provided its got a bigger exhaust?

was thinking of a simpler way of putting it....
if extractor style manifolds where that good, all the big power td42 engines be running them. but they don't for good reason.

Ask him anything he will answer you, he had that and a high flow intake and front mount with twin snorkels, as for fuel pump either mechanical or he has a tunning chip
