Got my mistral back and the damage done I'm considering pulling the motor and biff the rest
Problem is the mistral auto drops on the wrong side, what sort of options are there that will bolt up that drop drivers side ?
Cheers Reece

Re: TD27 trans options
post is confliction... title states trans options however you post gives the impression the motors farked....how do you fark one one the toughest industrial plants made in the last 50 years anyway? leave the radiator cap off?
anyway
3.8 v6 buick and trans with isuzu rodeo/bighorn/transfer case. chop away the IFS and change to hilux diffs...certification etc blah blah blah
Or if you use the search function you'd see that the nissan RB series engine also bolts up to the trans with a change of bell housing. But that involves a fair few mods that require a certified engineer/welder.
makes going to the wrecker and buying a QD32 from a R50 terrano appealing..... and use that....since it's plug and play so to speak. no mods no certs hell...if the WOF guy isn't onto it he probably wont even realise you have a bigger engine in ya truck.
as for the trans a RE5R01A....that same trans is used in everything from london black cabs to nissan laurels skylines cefiro's terranos/ pathfinder /navara Gloria Cedric king cab's frontier subaru honda use them too.
another option is a GTS 4 gearbox same as a patrol just with the mistral transfer case/ using the TD27 bell housing that will put the transfer on the drivers side.

Re: TD27 trans options
If I am reading your question right you want a drivers side drop box to fit the td27. If so, a patrol auto box will go on. You do need to swap the bell housing and pump. I have not done this, but the research I have done says it works.
Likewise a patrol transfer should go on the back of the box you have, but a patrol auto is stronger. (very similar but slightly bigger where it counts.)

Toy - Zuk chassis tub, hilux 4.88 axles and transfer, Nissan CA18DE motor and auto trans, sc12 supercharger, 32 10'5 simex, twin motor 8274 custom freespool. Well the parts are all there in various corners of the shed

We have a patrol auto and transfer sitting in the shed................

Sorry the painkillers I'm on sort of make me.... vauge
This is the mistral that was stolen, the police have found it and returned it
sadly there is mould on the seats and the trim some of it is split, tires have been swoped for bald ones, 12,000 km over on road users etc so the car is a throw away, going to cost way too much to put back on the road
The motor and trans is still very good, pulls hard and is a happy runner, the catch with using these in anything else is the transfercase drop is the wrong side
Looks like the safari trans is the answer.... hmmm they need a computer don't they ?

All those trans use an ECU, But I'd suggest now that the situation is clarified a bit more reading up the thread in the ORE library on the RB25 engine trans combination and do away with the plates and turn into a trailer queen.
Chop the back off it, roll bar 2 inch body blocks will allow 33's and stick a nissan skyline engine and trans in there with the OEM transfer case.
or if you'd prefer the patrol box and a SAS conversion.
but be warned If you use a petrol engine make sure the trans is also from a petrol nissan and vice versa with diesel as it's a bitch to wire up the potentiometer to get the kick down and TPS working/talking together. It is easier to change the entire power train and wiring then mate a diesel auto to a petrol loom.

Re: TD27 trans options

The way I see it the truck is worth $1000 as is.... to fix it up and sell it as a legal car I'll never get the money back so I'm looking at what parts would be good for me, and how I can use em.... as is being discussed in another thread the motor is worth it and I do have a bit of a plan for a daily driver so motor and box will have a look at the brakes might be usefull disk conversion maybe the steering box
If you want it as a platform to build a gueen I'd be happy to work out a deal
As far as your RB idea... here is a simple improvement I'll throw in a lada transfer case plenty strong enough for the RB there's a dude in europe running a Ferrari motor through one

Re: TD27 trans options
Mate, if you have a Mistral TD27, g/box and transfer case, I think there'd be plenty of people wanting it for their D21. And in that case the "drop" would be on the correct side...
