Is anybody on here running one of these lockers?

I wouldn't be sticking a Locker in a R180 housing , If it doesn't snap the spline off or destroy the cv's it will blow out the housing.

I've done it with a standard LSD

That's why ARB has only just started making one for it due to large customer demand. But hey from there point of view its still money in there pocket i spose.

It's not the actual locker that causes it, its the lash/slack in the drive line that does it.

A tight LSD is a bit safer.

IF i hadn't had the cusco on hand for mine I'd still go with this one.

BTW, have had one of those for quite a few years (since T1), they were $1500 then and needed to be completely stripped and all O rings resized to the right specs
Just removed it a couple of weeks ago because it wouldn't disengage. Hammered the shyt out of mine and it lasted. Just the spider gears were a let down and that is what caused the malfunction
Cheap as chips now though.

Bang for buck worth a shot you reckon? It won't be getting a thrashing as such.

Another quick one which is a little off topic... What offset rims are people running on their Terranos? I have 16/7's with -15 offset at the moment but am thinking about changing over to 0 or +5 to try bring the tyres into the guards. Running 265/75 tyres. Thoughts on this?

That generic airlocker product link doesn't specify spline count between WD21 (31) and R50 (33). Does it specify front or rear even?

It doesn't but I'm going to enquire about them today. Are you talking rockrite style lockers? I'd prefer selectable if that's the case.

Yeah Lokka/Lockrite, 4wdbits.co.nz sells for the 4-pin open rear I think. Lockrite is very effective but dog cut gears will never be as smooth and creamy as spiral cut. Sounds like you are set on selectable though which is fair enough, selectable is the ultimate IMO.

Personally I have experience with ARB/Yukon but not with the generic airlocker. But I have read a lot on the internet about them and the reviews seem to be pretty positive. People seem to think they are good value and work well for club use etc, $800 is a pretty sharp price.

I guess the only other thing to consider is installation which could bump the cost up a decent amount. Need to drill the housing for an airline, compressor wiring, side gear backlash reset etc. Not the end of the world, but worth considering.

The only downside is with my front locker when you put the power down it turns into a b#$@% to steer, Take your foot off and it comes right again.

It goes any were now and no more broken CV's

Had a lockrite in the front of my old Prado and it was terrible in the steering sometimes! Sorted! Think I'll go ahead and grab one!

As for the rims... What offset is everybody running?

Zero! 15x8's 32x9.5 simexs (33.4 inch real height)

No rub anymore. Tires have trimmed the front guards nicely

0 offset 15x8. 32x11.5 Buckshots. Has a 50/50 lift

Excellent. Might try a zero offset. -15 was just a touch too much. 25/50 lift plus may have to cut rear of rear guard and BFH the front...
