Anyone had an experience or looked into putting a chopped down terrano body or navara body on to a safari chassis??
Asides from the wide axles/ wheels sticking out how bigger mission is it, engine bay etc?
SWB Safari > terrano body??

Re: SWB Safari > terrano body??
I imagine the extra cylinders of the patrol won't fit in the engine bay? Maybe if you rear mounted the radiator but still seems small to me.
Trans tunnel also might not be compatible without some cutting and glueing?
That poor patrol that would have to dress up like a terrano - be like a cross dresser

Re: SWB Safari > terrano body??
i been thinking of putting a terrano body on a lwb safari chassis so am interested too in any info...darrinz (i think thats his name here) has put a cut down terrano body on one but not sure on what motor or trans he is running...its a race truck and would have big different lots of bits

Re: SWB Safari > terrano body??
LWB safari would be a lot longer than a terrano one would think...? Interesting idea though.
Re: SWB Safari > terrano body??
Darinz runs a VH45 which is a V8 so 2 cylinders less to fit in. Not saying it would be easy though. I am putting surf body (cut to single cab) in a lwb safari chassis, also with a VH45. It is very tight. My rad is on the back, but Darinz has fit his in the engine bay.
I dont know about a terrano bit a surf is about 103' wheel base and lwb safari is 117' so you would have some panel work to do.
Here's my build. Not sure it will be any help to you.

Re: SWB Safari > terrano body??
Nah mine's nothing like that.
I have a Terrano body and chassis with Safari running gear and turboed vh45. I cut the firewall out and the motor sits about 200mm into the cab and the radiator fits in the engine bay, but only just. (with engine fan etc though)
I wouldn't look at mine as an example of what to do as it is basically a scratch built truck that uses some of a Terrano chassis (Like bare chassis rails and one factory crossmember) and the body shell.
But from my research you'll struggle to fit a TD42 into a Terrano engine bay. Also to fit the body onto the chassis you'll basically have to cut the tunnel out as the Terrano sits lower to the chassis (alot!) than a Safari.
There'll be plenty of photo's of mine up soon as I'm doing a write up on the build but I think all that will do is put people off doing something similar.

Nissan Terrano coilovers, turboed VH45, Safari axles, and some other stuff.
Re: SWB Safari > terrano body??
Yep, about time we saw a build thread Darin. Haven't been nearly enough pics in the magazine.
Re: SWB Safari > terrano body??
Too busy working to pay for it or building it to do anything else. BUT am working on something now.
