glow plug timer/relay, dash light problem GQ

i think this is a glow plug timer/relay issue can anyone confirm please,

gq y60 td42, sometimes when i turn the key the glow plug light comes on for just a second or so even first thing in the morning and takes a bit of winding over to start, other times its the normal 3 or so seconds and starts normally....any ideas please.

i always wait for the tick turn the key as you would when waiting for the glow plugs and you will hear a tick when they fully charged and your volt gauge will jump up a bit starts a peace of piss
