Post by nztimr33 »

As you can see my steering box is leaking from the seal around the shaft , Anyone replaced one before ? and can it be done in place or need to take the box off the truck ? who sells the seals and can u buy just the seal or do u have to buy a whole rebuild/seal kit ? :) any help would be great , thanks in advance :)

if you decide to replace rather than fix I have a good box with no leaks that came off my lux when I did crossover steering. $200 plus shipping.

Cheers,
Pete

Thanks for the offer but I'll most likely be fixing this one as the radiator just shat itself so tryna keep the cost down

if I remember rightly no you can't do it in place, whole box has to come apart to get to the seal, I have a really good link to a write up on my computer I'll post it up tomorrow some time

There you go, good luck looks like quite a tricky job to do.

Its for a 80 series but the Hilux boxs are very simular.

That's is an awesome write up, mine has been leaking, but I have been topping up Prestone anti leak fluid which basically swells the seals. Been good for 12 months :)
