im no landy expert but they are a gutless piece of crap, a friend of mine used one as a daily driver for a while near new,low kms......and push bikes could beat him beween lights...even when he punished the crap out of it
it may have just been that vehicle so go test drive it
having said that they are a nice comfortable truck with all the mod cons....just gutless as
my 24c

thanks....was keen on diesel as do a lot of miles and need something reasonably economical....what are the disco V8,s like on gas??mpg???

i used to own a 2.5tdi discovery went great good motor i had it all modifed up for off roading and motor was doin 550km's to a tank the 2.5tdi and 3.0tdi are 2 of landrovers most economical engines mine went 160kph with 33's so the deisel still has a bita grunt

The Tdi is a great engine. The 95 & onwards autos had their power increased a bit & put out something like 120bhp & go pretty well. The Tdi will never be a rocket ship (the engine did come out in 1989!), but once on the open road they drive really well with more than sufficient torque.
We have averaged 10.1L/100kms (28MPG) in our Tdi (5 speed) over 65,000kms. They are one of the most economical engines around. With an 88 litre tank, between 800 & 900 kms is realistically achieveable on a tank.
The V8's are fairly thirsty & you would be unlikely to see much above 20MPG. They are still a great truck though.
Also, there is no such thing as a Land Rover 3.0tdi.

Nibby, That one looks like Murray Tooley's truck, and if it is you can be sure it is a weapon. Muzas build quality is awesome.
(read the coil conversion under my truck came off thye first one muza built)
If you were strange enough to be looking for a Disco, this one os the one you shold buy.

I'm with you there rokhound, that's Murray's alright. I've been admiring Murray's vehicle building and enginering ability for the last nine years and it's his attention to detail and finishing that allways stands out. I think Murray is one of those enthusiasts who get's his enjoyment out of building and once finished his mind is off on the next build.
Whoever buys this vehicle you can be assured you will be getting your moneys worth.
Wunder what Murray's next project is going to be ?

If any one else is looking, Murrys rig is a daily driver and has good road manners as well as being a weapon off road.

Get about 22L/100kms in my sb chev cruiser
20 or 28 MPG sounds pretty good to me?
