I'm after some brake pads for the rear of my hilux which has MR2 callipers on it. Repco has none in the country and can find any on the online shops. Has anyone bought these before?

Got to the bottom of it

Bendix do them. For the sw20 (what i think the calipers are off) the part number is DB1260

BNT stocked there for $76.42+GST

I rang NZ brake co (09 8366673) and they were out of stock of DB1260 but said they use DB405 of the AW11 mr2 interchangeably.

They had these for $35inc

From the bedix website they actually list the DB405 for both the aw11 and sw20 non turbo.

According to their website the DB405 is 0.3mm thicker in each pad.

yup bnt had them, had to get them in overnight though. oh and take the old ones in.

Give your nearest BnT a call, I am sure they can find something in their catalogue.

mate ripco are crap

went to replace the rotors on the kzn185 and as it happens there's two different sizes. they gave me the larger of the two. of course the rotors didn't fit so i took in the old units and they didn't know they existed. all this on Sunday of course.

went into the local partmaster ask for a set of rotors without going into my little ripco fight and low and behold they say "What size mate as we have booth on the shelf"

just goes to show if you want crap blow off valves for your gangster lowered shitbox go see ripco if you want parts for your auto, then go to any other auto supplier

I'd say most of my problems about oils have been because of them, they just want the sale and don't giver a fk about the customer as if it turns to crap you'll go back for more parts.. vicious circle.. I now research exactly what I need before going to either of the parts suppliers before asking them to look it up..as you get a 50/50 chance that it'll be ok..

Yea will try BnT on Monday was a little too late this arvo as they shut at 12. i keep forgetting we have on in qtwn.

yea repco are shiit as. When I got my rotors they were about 250 a side from repco and about 100 off BNT.

When I asked for the pads he said" have you got a number plate?"

I said "na have a look at a 1990 non turbo mr2 (i had my pads with me to check)"

Instead of saying oh sweet I'll look it up he said "why not???"

me "because the pads are off a hilux with prado rotors"

Him "Oh ok..."

They really hate it when you have non factory stuff. the only thing factory on mine is the chassis and the body. I normally look up a number plate on trademe before I head in.

agreed there, the amount of times I've had to take stuff back I can't remember. Fan belts for safari, had several listings none of which fit my truck.
The worst was trying to buy clutch parts to put a laurel gearbox into an old skyline. I need a clutch kit and slave cylinder for a C32 laurel and a master cylinder for a R31 skyline. Oh do you have the plate number? No, because the skyline is currently auto and the Laurel is rusted out and hasn't been registered for god knows how many years. Oh sorry sir, I don't know if that will work. Mate I know it will work I just need you to look up the parts for me. Just look up pretty much any RWD non-turbo nissan pretty much all the master cylinders are interchangable. 'dumb look', ok, i'll see what I can find.

Ah glad its not just me who's had horrible service from ripco.
A while ago i purchased some CV boots for my old skyline from them. Got home tried to fit them. Didnt fit..... back i go to ripco.
Walk in the door and talk to the asshole behind the counter. Told him the issue, His reply was "Oh we dont stock parts for that".... THEN WHY THE #### DID U SELL THEM IN THE FIRST PLACE....

All these comments re getting parts prove that its less hassle to go and buy genuine parts or from a specialist aftermarket parts place that specialises in parts for your brand (manufacturer) of vehicle. You also get people behind the counter or on the phone that know the vehicles, know their parts and are very knowledgeable and helpful. Might cost slightly more but less time and less hassle and you are probably getting better quality.

Have found bnt and a few others ok but toyota are almost as bad as repco. Same deal with number plate. They hate anything modified.

With dealing with toyota, http://www.toyodiy.com is what you need. you get the part numbers and just tell them.

For my hilux ive found nz toyota rather expensive, can have them imported from the states for reasonably cheap for things like crank seals, pinion seals and the likes

I would only go to repco for their oil on special. Nothing against them - they employ sales people not complete tards, its just I hate dealing with sales people...

BNT service varies depending on the place - some I won't return to and one I keep going back to. I actually tried one I walked out on maybe 9 years ago, being older and wiser I just got quoted a price and left.

Take a sample in and if they cant match it up its prob a good time to find another supplier

I think I have a set new. Will have to check if they are turbo or non turbo.
