Hey all
Driving home last night on the motorway and my gearbox packed it in
What are my options?
Do any skyline gearboxes fit?
Is mine a 3spd or a 4spd auto as mines a 1992 td27 turbo.
Thanks in advance

Have you tried the search function
Anyway. Is it 2wd or 4wd?
can you give us the trans code off the build plate?

Ya want the one a bit lower.
Re4ro1a from memory?
Trans is basically the same as used by Nissan in most of their rwd / 4wd vehicles of the same era.
How easy it would be to adapt the rear housings, ie remove tail housing to bolt on transfer I don't know.
Probably best to consider a rebuild of your unit, or a secondhand (and who knows how good) unit.
It will probably be worth the coin to get a auto trans specialist to check it out, It could save removing it only to find it wasn't an internal problem causing the issue.

IT'll bne one of these two.
the following lists are the platforms you will find said transmissions.
RL4R01A
1990–1998 Nissan Pathfinder
1990–1997 Nissan Hardbody Truck
1998–2001 Nissan Frontier
RE4R01A
1988–1998 Nissan Pathfinder
1990–1997 Nissan Hardbody Truck
1989–1998 Nissan 240SX
1989–1999 Mazda MPV
1990–1992 Infiniti M30
1990–1998 Nissan Pathfinder
1990–1993 Mazda Pickup
1990–1997 Nissan 300ZX Non-Turbo
1992–1995 Mazda 929
1992–1997 Infiniti J30
1993–1996 Mazda RX-7
1997–2003 Infiniti QX4
1998–2001 Nissan Pathfinder
1998–2004 Nissan Pathfinder on Australian Models
1999–2001 Nissan Frontier
2000–2001 Nissan Xterra
–1989 Nissan Van
1996–1998 Nissan Skyline R33 GTS turbo
you will have to bolt your transfer case to the back of any of these that are not from a WD/D21 chassi
The earlier R32 skyline and GTR uses the same gearbox internals as the patrol hence why it isn't on the list as the transfer is on the wrong side.

Well had drove it to work today....
It drives normally apart from a screech thud screech thud screech, which fades in then fades out after about 5 seconds....
Maybe its the transfer box?
I had a issue with it when I first got it that when it park and idling it would bring up the ATP light.
Also talked to the boss and fingers crossed I can stick it up on the hoist over the next few days.

the AUTO Gearbox on these trucks seems to have strange ways and it seems to be the weak link
my auto went nuts made all the sounds clunk grind I thought that's it
I changed the trans oil put a trans cooler on so far its going great I found a lot of my trucks problems were caused by a no hope mercanic
I let him and trusted he would know
hes a mercanic in a can A BEER CAN

Gearbox is stuffed
Its forced auto fluid in the transfer box and visa versa.
Spun the bearings in the transfer box.
I figure its easier to replace the hole F#@^ing lot
