My 2.4 engine check light keeps coming on once my truck is warm, only sometimes, not round town on the open road and 4WD and sometimes it sounds like the engine is misfiring. It is a smokey truck so maybe injector blocked on 1 cylinder, or lack of compression?

Search diagnostic code finding and you'll find the way to pull the light code yourself. Just have to jump 2 connections on the diagnostic plug then the light will flash a code. Look up code and then you'll know why it coming on.
Most probably be knock sensor picking up the knocking that your hearing causing light to come on.

That should help you see whats making the engine light come on

first thing is which engine do you have?
the 2lte codes don't work on the 2lt.

smokey and noisy engine, i would say injectors are way over due for a recon.

btw they don't have knock sensors.
