Turbo Advice/Recommendation

Post by CDtd42 »

Hi Guys, I have been building my truck for the last year and its pretty much done bar the f@#N Turbo!! I ordered one over 8 weeks ago and it is still supposedly coming but get told the same story every week and my pride and joy is just siting there not moving. Its a TD42T with injector pump mods- minor performance cam grind and a "SINCO" manifold. I need advice or recommendation where to go and who to speak to. I am after the ultimate turbo for a td42t. Please help

Exactly and where do you want the power, is it auto or manual etc etc.
No such thing as the ultimate turbo as one persons opinion on how a motor performs is different to anothers. Absolute power or torque doesn't tell the full story as how it is delivered is as important if not more important that the peak figure.
Nissan Terrano coilovers, turboed VH45, Safari axles, and some other stuff.

Hey guys, Not sure exactly what the mods where but it was done by Tauranga diesel & turbo. i know its had the head head out of a Vx put in it and a full recon its flowing 25% ish more according to them. It's manuel with external gate. the truck is being built for off road/comp truck which will be riven on the road occasionally but i want the focus for off road, so lots of down low power which can cary through would be good.

I would encourage you to find out precisely what pump mods were done, as something seems a little amiss.

Standard GQ pump uses 10mm plunger and from memory runs 57cc's of fuel per 1000 shots. Most 12mm plunger upgrades should be in the 100+ cc's relm. I know nothing of Landcruisers (other than what is useful to bolt onto Nissans) so there possibly could be an 11mm plunger that was used in your pump, rather than the more commonly used 12mm?

You should be matching your turbo and pump to give you the result you want. Otherwise you could be a little disappointed with what you end up with.

Apologies, didn't realize it was a TD42-T pump that you had upgraded. In that case 20% increase over the standard turbo pump would be within the capacity of the factory turbo setup. So you ought to have plenty of scope for improvements with a turbo upgrade also.

Yes its a TD42-t pump. Hey does any one know how to down scale photos so I can post them up, I have literally hundreds of the build. I have a mac lap top and take photo with my I phone, completely illiterate with this stuff.

you need to upload them to an online media host of some sort (like photobucket.com) and once you have uploaded them you can re-size them on there, just hit the edit image button, choose re-size, type in the size and hit save. They even have the Img code beside each of you photos, so you just click on that, then come over to your thread and "paste" the link.

that might sound tricky, but just go step by step, it's easy enough.

Bring on the Pics!
