Landcruiser 80 trans interchangability A442F

Please help. I have a 93 cruiser 1HDt with an A442F trans. It comes out of overdrive ok (button on shifter) but going back in I get a shudder for a second or two. What's up??? Also, I have an oportunity to purchase an A442F out of a 91 cruiser but the chap says his cruiser doesn't have the overdrive switch. Is his trans of any use to me? Are they interchangable? I assume mine is electronicly controlled as it has the ECT switch on the dash.
