Terrano front end HELP

So a few days back i started noticing a strange rubbing/screechy sound (similar to that of when you drive on polished concrete in some carparks) coming from the right hand side. It's only really been noticeable late in the afternoon when it's hot out. I've changed the brake pads & no change, sound still there, tried swapping tyre, still nothing. Steering also has hardened every now and again for like 3sec, dunno if that's related at all. Any suggestions anyone?
Relatively new to this working on the truck business but loving it so far! If anyone has tips they'd be greatly appreciated!

Hmmm.
Interesting, I checked the power steer belt but it seems to be tight already.
The noise tends to be only when moving really slow, like 10-20kmph. It really sounds like it's being generated from the tyre area but hey I could be wrong

Does it do the noise in straight line, turning gentle, or only tight turns?
Also does it do it every time?
Grease up your steering stops, and check inner guard trims are well secured to help eliminate a couple of possibilities.
Check P/s fluid level, and belt condition as well as tension.

Primarily only in a straight line intermittent for like 5sec after coming back to straight from a turn to the left at Very low speed ie: Speedbump, turning into driveway.
I checked guards initially to see signs of rubbing but couldn't find anything there, Also power steering Fluid seems alright, might give it a top up though & grease the steering stops. Thanks for those tips. Ran my hand under the belt and it has no teeth, would that be a normal trait? As still seems in fine condition otherwise.
Another thing I noticed this morning was that the front right tyre Looks low on air yet when you check pressure it is still running as it should.
I've wondered if It's a CV also.

I have a similar/same problem. When taking off from being stationary and turning left i can hear a strange rubbing which can be felt through the footwell on the left hand side. Or when driving slow taking corners on 4x4 tracks.
I've have checked all under the car and there is no signs of rubbing. I have no idea what it is.
Thanks

Power steering belts / fluid as said comes to mind...
The only other thing which has happened to me...
Wheel bearings loose?
Had one which was loose... with the slight wobble it would cause the disc to wobble... and when you turned the wheel the disc would touch part of the caliper....Sounded like the screech you get when the brake wears down to the squealers

Yeah, I'm familiar with Wheel bearings being loose, had one in my car a few years back. I've jacked up the truck and given it the ol' try and move the wheel horizontal & vertical. Doesn't appear to have any play. I'm thinking steering fluid/belt may be on the right track though, That's my next point of call

Took a short vid last night whilst driving up the drive.
This is the sound & it only ever happens at this speed.

Starting to think maybe it's just a common thing when it's super hot outside then. Because I'm stumped otherwise

To me it sounds like something is tight and or dry.
Bearings or bushes or the hubs would be my bet

Video is good, I think I know what it is. But first, o help eliminate things, can you do two things.
First-Go to a hill, and drive down with engine off and see if noise is still there? (this eliminates the engine being a source)
Second- Drive such that it makes the noise, and gently brake-but keep road speed the same (match throttle to counteract brake) If noise changes then have a thorough look at brakes (backing shims on pads, sliders, antisqueal shims etc)
But what I think from the video is the inner hub seal is dry. Mine occasional made a similar noise, but only at high speeds (70-90k). After greasing seals years ago noise has never re-occured.
To get to them, remove calliper and 4x4 hub. Then undo wheelbearing nuts, and slide wheel hub off. Check condition of seal, grease and refit together. Also worth giving the bearings some fresh grease while you're in there.
Good luck with fix,
Nath

Sounds like a dragging pad, does it go away when you apply the brakes?

Thanks mate, I'll give those things a try tomorrow arvo after work and see what happens. I'll get back to ya.

Not as far as I've noticed, I'll have a look tomorrow when i try the above suggestions too. Although it did it with both the old pads & the new ones I installed, thinking it was the pads to begin with.
Cheers!

Check the backing plates aren't rubbing on the discs

I have found my problem, my noise was coming from the left hand side foot well, Just happened to look at my engine mounts when underneath my car yesterday and all the rubber has gone from the right hand engine mount.
