Yes its still on......
if its wet and miserable then I may be wanting Mud Tyres and Rated towhooks mounted properly as it can get slippery in places.
After all the crap that came out over the woodwork after the redrocks trip I thought I'd better post this now
It is still my intention to hold a quick drivers briefing and to quickly check the towhooks, if you have unrated factory ones then the person checking them will make you aware that these are not safe and SUGGEST that these need to be changed . likewise if they don't look attached properly then this is a opportunity for these to be checked eg if they are glued to the bumper. If you do not have the proper hooks then its recommended you don't go into the deep bogs for a play (the tracks should be ok) as you will need recovering. the last thing we want are hooks snapping and then going flying into someones head an then we have the police and OSH to deal with...(well actually that would be me as I organised the trip and I am legally responsible for ensuring your safety where possible).
The last thing I want is to loose a few trucks over the steep bits or lots of people getting lost or someone loosing their head due to a flying hook/strop...how would you feel if if it was someone elses kids that your factory hook just went into.....
We can take this opportunity to do a little bit of training as well so those that want it put up your hands.
There...I've put it down in writing, if you don't like it get over it go and stay at home with the missus instead and see what jobs she gives you.....I'm not wearing my committee hat at the moment so it plain old diet jerry, I hope you understand my intentions for the quick briefing which will only be 3 or so mins and covers the basic convoy rules, keeping out of the vehicle danger zone during a recovery. etc .....
The hook checks are an opportunity to look at your hooks, get them checked (by Stinky hopefully
) , so you are aware if they are safe or not and replace them for the next trip(s).
If you have any strong objections to this then I will cancel the trip and someone else can take over responsability for leading it.
