Hi there I have just put a 1994 vr 3.8 into my hilux but I am having trouble getting the injectors to fire , I have spark and if I put a little gas into the throttle body it will fire then run but will stop , I have had them working twice but only for a couple of squirts , any advice on what I am doing wrong will much appreciated , I have the pin out charts for the ecu , but may need to have the voltage for the pin outs if anyone has them , I think it will be a simple fix but I am just stumped at the moment , cheers

IF it was one injector not working it's either damaged blocked or broken wire to the ecu.

Since it's all I'd say you have a bad common power wire to the injectors.

From memory( may pay to get a multi meter and check) the injectors have a common positive and the earth for each goes to the ecu

yea they have a common positive on all 6 of them , then 3 have a grey wire and 3 have a blue wire that is also 12v but when the ecu tells it to fire they drop to earth , I have had a earth wire going from the battery to the grey wire and can get that set of injectors to fire manually by tapping the wire to complete a circuit, The problem I can see is that the ecu is not telling the injectors to fire for some reason , weather its a broken wire in the loom or a faulty censer I am not sure , also the motor is a 1994 vr so thats the year before the ecotec so it cant be anything to do with a imbolizer as they dont have them like the ecotec

You can damage the drivers in the ecu by trying to run with the injectors disconnected.

You need to do a continuity test from the injectors back to the ecu plug on the appropriate pins to make sure there are no breaks. You can also get little test lights that clip into the injector harness to show when each injector is being pulsed.

If the injectors aren't being pulsed and the wiring is okay then its time to do some diags on the ecu. Usual faults are cam and crank sensors or wiring.

Matt.

are you running a vr or vn ecu?
have you wired up the trans inhibit switch? (the one the ecu needs to tell its in park)
or is it a manual motor?
on the loom where it connects to the coilpacks you have a pink hot wire ensure the male and female ports are a firm fit as the factory looms can be a bit short and if you get a bad connection. it won't do anything but turnover and cough

Actually yea they do..... They require a bcm or a bcm bypass to run
