in the middle of changing my front wheel bearings and not sure which way to install the bearings raceway, do i drop the bearing in then the raceway in afterwards to retain it in or put in the raceway then drop the bearing in with the seal holding the assembly in.
should have taken notice when i based it all out with the hammer.
KZN130 wheel bearing raceway
Re: KZN130 wheel bearing raceway

Should you be working on something like this if you can't figure that one out??
Re: KZN130 wheel bearing raceway
how else does one learn with no teacher but reading up and giving it a go.
Re: KZN130 wheel bearing raceway
I guess what slide is suggesting is that for something as important as wheel bearings one would expect that the person doing it should be able to work out which they go in.
Anyway, to answer your question, the outer race goes in first, then the inner race with the rollers and lastly the seal, make sure the bearing is well greased before installing. The outside bearing is the same but no seal, outer race first then inner race.
The other thing, have you got a workshop manual as this should guide you.
Cheers

Re: KZN130 wheel bearing raceway
cheers thats what im after, guide video showed that for another vehicle but want to make sure. trying to learn as much about home mechanical work as i can and would rather ask first than just doing a 'she'll be right' i left the head change to a workshop however. could do with a workshop manual but from what ive read i need about two of them to cover the KZN130 so will pick them up someday.
