Warn 9.5ti motor

Post by Pradozer »

Hi All

I haven't been on the forum for a while but I need some help if possible.

I buggered the motor on my warn 9.5ti, I would like to upgrade it (HP) if possible and wonder if anyone has a done this and was it successful and if so what motor did you use, any help much appreciated

Also looking at dyneema rope probably 10mm, any brand that stands out better than others or who does a good deal?

Cheers

Paul

Yes seen those but the 9.5ti has a pinion for the planetary gears, those motors have a spline so not sure if that will work

According to a Warn parts site your motor is a

So they don't look anything special...But it may have a long splined shaft...

Hope this helps.

Hi Calvin

it appears that there are two types of motors, one for all the standard warn winches and another for the 9.5ti for the first set of planetary gears, I need to do more home work

Geez dude, you make shitloads, just go and buy a gigglepin setup and bang it on. Should be able to claim it as a forklift or some sort of lifting device   .

Sorry mate, not much help to you, but I couldn't resist being a smart arse

Ah a forklift, that would have been handy last week, would have needed 35" tyres though.

I am beyond help anyway and I know you couldnt resist being a smart arse, I would think you a not feeling well if you were polite

Why do you need a new motor Paul ? You got a problem

On the other side of the Reefton saddle after going up Trev's hill and down Cooze's track. A lot of winching as the ruts are very deep and even 36 simex's will not touch the bottom.

On a serious note. Warn claim these winches are water and shit proof. What a load of bullshit as I have had the same trouble as Paul and they just self destruct with condensation buildup.

Hi All again

Ok having done some homework it appears that the 9.5ti is the only winch that uses its type of motor with the 12 spline so I am looking at upgrading the motor to 20 spline and an adaptor to the 12 spline current set up.

This is where I need help, I need someone in Christchurch area with a dead warn winch in pieces I could get measurements off to see if I can do an adaptor.

I f anyone knows of one could you let me know please, my phone numbers are 03 327 5103 or 021 472 853, any help appreciated

Cheers
