Hi all,
I have a 1992 Nissan Ti WD21 TD27t Terrano,
I need to change the transmission and i need some info.
I currently have the RE4R01A Automatic Transmission.
Which model Manual Transmission should i use?
Pros and Cons? Which model Nissan they are in?
Should i get a Second hand one from the wreckers, or a reconditioned one?
The easiest way to change it over?
And do i need another transfer case, or will they be compatible?
Thanks

I just helped a mate do this in the next model up Terrano. He went to a wreckers and got a complete setup from a manual that was being wrecked.
Driveshafts, complete box with transfer, cross member tho they were the same, flywheel, clutch, pedal box, clutch master cylinder and hard line, centre console surround, and gauge cluster.
Few little tricks along the way - when fitting the clutch pedal found there was a steering column brace that wasn't present on the manual truck and it's welded in. Had to get in with a mini grinder to get it out. This might not be an issue on the earlier model though.
Also found the gearbox had knackered bearings so had to tear it down and replace the two main bearings in the box which wasn't too hard to do with a press and a couple of bearing pullers. Bearings were $160 for two I think. Had to buy a new release bearing and spigot bush, new gearbox oil and a few other little things. All up he spent 1k but he now has a rareish manual with new bearings so it will be easier to sell later on.
Box is ridiculously heavy, will be a mission for two strong people. The auto has higher diff ratio's than the manual and at 50k's it's not quite happy in 4th. He's running stock tires tho so if you have larger tires it will be fine in 3rd.
Matt.

While doing this swap, did you guys have any issues with the electrics. I've just fitted a D22 Navvy box to my D21, ( box from early 22), and, having isolated the inhibitor switch, and sorted that, I find I'm still not getting fuel. Is there an isolator, or fuel cut solenoid somewhere. D21 is '92 vintage, import, with TD27t motor, and ( used to be) 4 spd auto. So, cranks over, but no fuel, equals no fire!
