Need circuit / resistor colour code Oricom UHF radio

Post by kbushnz »

Anyone out there with an Oricom uhf088 radio ?
I need the colour code for the resistor which would normally live in front of the red power wire. Blew it clean off the board and burnt off the colour code.
Thanks in advance....

I suspect its seen a voltage spike. And this is the first resistor in the power circuit. So hopefully if its replaced it will come back to life. Gee monstr did a good job of it. lol

48 volts, perhaps
Would explain the crap performance.

Cheers,
I keep looking for the loose nut behind the wheel, but I can't find it!!

Ok boys and girls I am almost there.. Got a photo from Phil Clarke....

Looks like a wire wound resistor however when I pulled it off its spool to measure the wires resistance it didn't have any...So I suspect its a zero OHM resistor used as a fuse....
Note: Phil tells me there is no markings on it...

Anyone care to speculate also...

Maybe its designed to blow if power is connected up in reverse to protect it.

I would have suggested it was a Varistor like you suggest for over voltage protection, but it doesn't look like a common varistor package.

Alan @ Navcom in Dunedin may have fixed some of these in the past and may be able to help, otherwise have you contacted Oricom to ask for a circuit diagram maybe?
Dont follow me. i'll get stuck and need a tow..

try anything electronic in nelson. the guys there know their stuff and are really cheap as well. if it has no resistance as you said it will be something like a fuse or a variation off. i am sure if you sent them a picture they would be able to help. so is there any form of markings on it?

OK I have received the board diagrams from Oricom.... Only sent them an email this morning...
Looks like it is an RF choke... 1UH.... Used to filter out any stray alternating current ....
So just need to locate one .....

I deal with South Island Components. They are really knowledgeable for components like that. http://www.sicom.co.nz/xurl/function/pr ... ntent.html they have one there for 79c.
