hilux power steering upgrade

Post by Petemcc »

My power steering seems to be struggling offroad with the bigger wheels and diff lock. It sometimes seems to lock up and will over heat after a long drive. I have changed the fluid a couple of times (comes out brown and burnt) but am beginning to think the pump is either buggered or just to small.

Has anyone else had this issues with a front locker and installed any different pumps?

Cheers,
Pete

pull it apart and check relief valve.. If you have cooked it then the O rings are probably buggered and need new ones.. did the same to mine and seemed to have fixed it..

yeah i would pull the pump apart and look at what is inside it. i bought a rebuild kit for my 1kz pump from toyota for 90 bucks and it came with about 4 o rings and a internal snap ring. the orings you could get matched up and pay 3 bucks for. the snap ring doesn't need to be replaced.
