Hi guys,
Since we had a blast running the Superwinch 24hr Teams Challenge, Andrew (andy3542) and myself have been talking about having a go at running a winch challenge.
So, after numerous phone calls we have come up with a plan:
19th & 20th July is the date.
We will be running this under 4x4 challenge rules.
The event will be held at Possum Palace in Omana (Northland)
We are looking at running Modified, Challenge and Club classes, and also tentatively looking to host UTV's (Polaris, Can-Am etc) if there is enough interest (Minimum of 6).
The cost we are looking at is $280 per truck, with an up front $100 deposit to secure a position. There will be a cut off for entry and monies around 4-6 weeks prior to the event, due to the costs we have to cover, we cannot offer a refund of the deposit to teams that pull out within 2 weeks of the event date.
We can offer the same setup with camping in the paddocks again, and we will also get the toilets and hot showers there again.
There will be use of a bbq if need be up at the house.
We may need a hand with marshals and setting tracks later on down the track but will keep you all updated.
Would be great to see some new faces from all over NZ.
We would like to thank our sponsors who have come on board to support this event:
FORCE4
Filthy 4x4
Terrain Tamer
JRC
Ultraropes
More details to come as we prepare them... watch this space.
Look forward to hearing from you guys
Cheers
Caleb & Andrew

Had a sit down with Caleb yesterday and sorted the format as well as a few other things.
Well run this with a minimum of 8 and a maximum of 30.
Run according to 4x4 Challenges rules and vehicle classes. So Club, Challenge and modified classes.
Were also looking at running a utv class if we get a minimum of 6.
We will need at least 6 UTV's to run the UTV class, these will need to have a minimum of a 4 point cage and a winch.
Were looking at 14-18 stages Saturday, 4 Saturday night and 4-8 Sunday morning till about 11. Hopefully have prize giving finished by mid-day so people can get home.
The Palace will be very wet and since no-one run something like this in the middle of winter were planning to have more tracks then well need so we can made decisions right up to the event weekend.
Both driver and co-driver must be affiliated to NZ4WDA either through a club or United 4x4 or 4x4 Challenges.
We will have hot showers and toilets.
Were currently working on sponsorship as well as entry forms and an info pack and well get them out asap.
Cheers

Id hope by mid winter that there is some water up there. If its anything like last year when we were setting tracks for the last event you'll be having fun on the access tracks.

Yeah I agree, we had a good conversation about this and we decided that we would rather have the extra set up and not needed than to be short and have huge wait times.
We would like to give you guys as much seat time as we can

Assuming I survive Woodhill then I'll be keen. PM me if you want a hand track setting as it isn't too far from home and I've set a few stages before.

Just a small update.
We'd like to thank Phil Clark at Force4 for coming on as our major and naming right sponsor.
Also a big thank you to Filthy 4x4, Terrain Tamer and Ultra Ropes for coming on board as well.
If youre thinking about entering please get your forms in with the deposit so we can start to work our numbers in each class and if your outlaw class will go ahead.
Cheers

Hey dude,
We are unsure on this right now but we are wanting to make this an option if we can (lots of reading to do to see if this is viable or not)
Would be cool if we could...
Just for interests sake, how many people would be interested in spectating?
Cheers

Spectators are a real tough one as if you let them in then you are responsible for them! So great idea but if you don't have the manpower to look after them then think really (like really) hard about this.
Unfortunately in this OTT PC world it isn't good enough to give them instructions and put the responsibility on themselves.
Just do what most other events do and that is make everyone be apart of a crew or make them be a voulenteer.
Hard but how else do you do it from a practical point of view?

Hi Guys.
If you are thinking about entering could you please get your entry form and deposit in asap so we can start moving forward with sorting tshirts, facilities and other logistics. We've had a couple entries so far but we need commitment from you guys in order for the event to go ahead.
We've had a lot of interest so if your serious then please let us know.
If you are unable to compete then you can pull out, up till the 4th of July and still get a full refund.
Cheers
Andrew and Caleb

Hey guys,
After some discussion and advice today we have made a call on spectators.
We will NOT be allowing spectators to this event, But we are more than happy for you to come along and help us marshall..
More marshalls = Less marshalling and more time to watch
We would have liked to let the spectators but unfortunatey it could have turned into a huge logistical and safety nightmare.
We encourage you to come along and help with marshalling, it will be a great time and all training will be provided.
Looking forward to seeing you all up there.
Cheers
Caleb & Andrew
