Hilux 2.8 alternator issue

Hi I've got the t belt and battery lights coming on the dash and the voltmeter on the dash drops which i think is an alternator problem.
It happens at idle randomly and when I give it a bit of a rev the lights disappear and all is well until it happens again.
The brushes seem to look ok to me.
Could it still be faulty brushes or would it be something else like the regulator
Any photos of how the brushes are supposed to look or anything will be helpful

Yeah could be regulator or an issue still in the alternator like crook rotor, rectifier or burnt connection
Try a reg first tho

Is there any tests on the regulator I can do so I can confirm its stuffed?

It'll be the reg.
What part of the country are you in?
I got a spare one you could try.

Not really can only check if you power out of the reg to the alternator field wire. Best to try one

I have a mate at work whose alt started playing up a few months back and he got a rebuild kit, can find out where he got it from if you want.

Ashdown Ingram may be able to help. They do new/recon Alt and starters.

I'm In Auckland so might be a mission to get it here. At the moment it's real intermittent and goes away as soon as I give it a rev and comes right for a while.
I was also thinking it wouldn't be the battery giving up would it?

Sounds like the reg.
when your sitting in it with it idling get someone to tap the reg and see if the Tbelt light etc flashes on.
