Anyone had handbrake drum get really hot?
Was taking the truck disco for a drive the other day, I had done about 10km and could smell something getting really hot. Saw the handbrake drum by transfer case smoking and was to hot to touch. Hand brake light wasn't on and I could roll truck when stopped. What could be causing this to happen?

is yours still the earlier mechanical handbrake rather than cable?
Maybe the shoes inside drum were still stuck to drum but after 10kms had burnt out enough, now allowing vehicle to move.
Best option, especially for a vehicle that has been parked up for so long is to remove drum and inspect.
