Hey! I figured that most of you guys on this forum will have some sort of handbrake....I don't mean the one that you find in your car either. I thought that it would be fun to get a bit involved. My Hubby "Mark" is a member and we just bought a 4wd....a shiny.....or at least it was till the other day when it got all messed up on a 4wd trip!

Us chickies are not stupid....we know what you call us! So hence came my ORE name "Handbrake". If you can't beat em, join em!!!

Really looking forward to doing heaps of trips. Met a few of the wellington blokes on a recent trip to the South Coast (some of them even drove the entire trip with their handbrakes on...great to see!) and had a great day. Mroffroader lead a great trip down some VERY narrow gorse tracks that dug some fairly large trenches in our shiny paintwork!

Can't wait till the next trip, and hopefully more of you fellas will be encouraged to bring along your handbrakes too! I'd love to meet some others with the same interests.....beer, cars, beer, sport, beer, boating, beer....hang on, I better go, I am starting to sound too much like the perfect woman!!!

Over and out. Handbrake (Aka, Hayley......Mark's wife) :D

pfft, I dont think mroffroader did a good enough job of breaking you guys in if all you got was scratches

Welcome to ORE BTW, I dont think Mark will be able to post anything "silly" with his handbrake watching him like a hawk.

I just have visions of you 2 fighting over the "truck" keys like that Rav 4??? advert the next time there is a trip on....

Hmmmm thats an idea...perhaps organise an ORE ladies/handbrake/'er indoors training day where we make you use the 4wd (besides...you can talk about things during the breaks .....eg shopping, your shoe or handbag collection  )

Just found out that the handbrake signed up. Bugger, I guess that means I'll have to watch what I say now.

That sounds like fun. Us blokes could all sit around on our deck chairs drinking beers and taking the piss... I can feel my cheeks and tummy growing tired from the laughing already  I'll probably take the kids out of the truck first. Hehehe

But seriously, I think that's a bloody good idea. Perhaps we could incorporate this into the Xmas BBQ thing.

Great to see the wives/shelas/better alf's signing in under their own user names.
I found out on the first trip that that it was normal for most of them to be keeping an on the forum, so good to see the involvement.
I can already see this costing me money when my better alf wants her own 4WD.
I was very impressed with Mrs Leithfields driving ability which was demonstrated on the first trip I went on (Canterbury training day on the Waipara), as a newbie I found it very cool that she was leading the trip and going places I didn't think my then shiny Isuzu would concur.

Great idea to run the ladies training day, an idea we can hopefully pick up as part of our training day in Canterbury.

So what will you do if you find out your missus is a better driver offroad than you?, ..... I can probably get Ange Mead along with her competition truck to give some pointers :)

Love the idea of a training day. You guys might even get to learn some stuff....like when we get the trucks so stupidly stuck, that you have to really use your imagination to come up with an idea to get us out..Ha ha ha!

Just jump in the truck and drive it Hayley coz it isnt hard. Mrs Husain drives my (her?) truck and took to it like a duck to water 8)

... the only training she needs is fuel economy :?

So when she gets it horribly stuck will we see her jumping out and telling you its "your" truck and you'd better get it out of there

The thought of the training is to make it fun and cover a few basic points, trying out some hazards, also away from an audience of partners cracking open a few beers and laughing....
