2.8 Central Locking issues

Post by linz »

Hi All

I have a 1998 hilux and up until today the central locking has been working fine just went out to lock the old horse tonight and no more central locking. Is this something simple or has something burnt out?? Seems strange that it just stopped do they have a fuse? Just wondering if anyone else has come across this before.

There will be a fuse.

Have you tried locking/unlocking from the passenger door?

No difference if trying from the passenger side.

Fuse is good when putting fuse back into its slot it makes the locking sound like it trying to work but not actually locking or unlocking it.

Relay maybe?? Or some dirty contacts is the main system behind the drivers door card or does each door have its own system

All doors will have motors with the front two being actuators. If one of the actuators has got wet or is playing up then it can cause issues.

Pull the drivers door card and unplug the actuator and test from the passenger side.

Repeat if necessary on the other side.

I have a 96 SR5 Hilux LN107, my rear passenger door locking stopped working, its the 12v solenoid that's packed up. Can replace from a wrecker or adapt another solenoid from an auto sparky.
While your at it pull all the door cards and CRC all sliding joints etc and tighten the grub screws that lock onto the actuating arm.

Cheers Paul.

This is the crook one from the rear door, still on its mounting plate.
