LSD types

Post by slidenyo »

clutch pack obviously can be shimmed,
viscous type fluid weight change to increase engagement aggressiveness?
looking for lsd's for the mq diffs I have and they fit terrano clutch type with 29 spline axles or viscous type from a skyline.
anyone used viscous type lsd's with any success in there 4wd.
I want to be easy on the gear whilst still having some grip

Viscous type would take creativity with installation, as the spline is longer on one side halfshaft. And as you would be removing halfshafts and fitting axles, a custom spline axle would be needed.
By the way, the shimming some guys do on the rwd viscous diffs is just adding preload to the spider gears (bind them up). Not a very good idea if any service life is desired.

I run Eaton Detroit Truetracs....
Not sure if they are available for your diffs but a quick search on their website will tell you...
INMHO I reckon they are far superior to any other LSD - shimmed or otherwise.
