Hi all not long got my first 4wd.
95 hilux loving it so far
Have been collecting recovery gear, and the necessities required to go on club trips!
Just wanting to know the difference between the chch 4wd club and the cant recreation club? Is one more hard core 4wd vs family orientated, any feed back would be great and are we aloud to be a member to one club to participated in any of the other clubs trips/meets.
also where is the best place in chch to go to to buy recovery gear and other 4wd parts.
I use 4wdbits.co.nz to buy some stuff but would rather go in and see a selection. Been to repco + supercheap but not like there selection.
Any feed back would be great, looking to get out more and meet some more people to go out on trips with!
Also do a lot if trial rides, hunting ect
Here's my truck and thanks for any info

Welcome, Canterbury Rec is a family based club and has the odd grade 4-5 trip as well. Not familiar with the Canterbury 4WD mob

Probably the best two outlets with a good selection and range of recovery gear would be Bridon's or Peter Munro's (ARB agents). If there is a Fully Equipped store around they might be worth a visit but they are not so 4WD orientated these days.

Howdy and welcome. Canterbury Rec 4wd Club is big and active, they even have a few Hiluxs

Only point that they do different is have a 33 inch max tyre size but if that suits you then it is a great club. They have a meeting 7.30pm at the Papanui RSA tomorrow (Wednesday) so come along and check it out. No prob being a member of multiple clubs

Also the North Canterbury 4wd Club meet at the Kaiapoi golf club on the first Tuesday of the month, 35" maximum tyres in Canterbury and no limit on tyres elsewhere.
Christchurch 4wd Club meet at the Cashmere Club on the second Monday of the month, no restrictions on tyres.
Both clubs cater for shiny trips up to grade 5 and have facebook pages.
The ChCh club has their own website as well.

Probably still an area to be careful in but thefts have dropped off in the last few months, whether it's due to the 'chop shop' busts or what ever i'm not sure.
