I have found a small leak in the radiator in my hilux, where the rubber hose
connects. I was wondering if anybody would recommend a place to get it fixed in Chch? I think it just needs to be soldered.

Regards

Tom

A1 radiators on St Asaph st.

You can take the radiator out and take it in, and may consider a flush while you are there, or if feeling rich or busy, take the vehicle in, advise of the problem and come back when they say

They are top people, and even custom make intercoolers, oil coolers etc and where other radiator shops go for parts

I had this exact problem with my FJ40 cruiser radiator modified to fit into in my V8 Landrover.

It was cracked at the top where the hose connected. I brought a small butane gas torch (pen style but was also a gas powered soldering iron for $15 or something) and just heated up the radiator enough to melt / flow solder onto it.

Worked bloody good.

A while earlier I had it repaired prior to fitting for only $30 or something but it cracked again

I wouldn't try the same method if the crack was on the side or bottom. Dam gravity. But you could always remove it and give it a go.

yep done as above ^^^ a few times in the past but with the price of radiators these days unless the radiators not very old and in reasonable nick I scrap them and shove a new one in :D

Wasn't until after the repair I realized how awesome a trail fix this is. Torch & solder lives in the spares box on the back now
