Afternoon gents,
Going to have a look at a 95 Hilux with a 3L engine in it tonight.
What should I be looking for in these to make sure i'm not buying anything dodgy? I know the truck has been lifted but all the work is certed.
Any advice?
Regards,
Daggers.

Have a real good look for rust and bog, especially if it has been repainted. If the seller claims work has been done on motor etc I wouldn't beleive it unless there are receipts. Also make sure the servicing has been done properly as the 3L really needs it.

Mine had rust around the sides of the roof above the doors and down the A pillar, apparently common. Check steering box for leaks, and if it has been used a bit off road the rear drums maybe grooved from gravel etc trapped in there. Had to replace mine as the previous owner did lots of river work and they wernt machinable as they would have come out oversize

. Hard to check on quick look over the truck, but keep it mind.
hope it works out for you, good luck.

As mentioned rust around the bottom of the A Pillar.
Check for the springs being more of a W shape rather than a U.
Reciepts for motor work etc
Be prepaired to do mechanical maintanence (sp) on it

Rust, smoke, temp, engine oil colour, water colour, gearbox oil colour and smell (if auto), 4wd engaging disengaging (hi and low), shrunken carpets inside, km's.

Never judge a diesel by the odometer reading. Half of the diesel owners admit to winding them back the other half are lying.

Never mentioned relying on km's. But only an idiot wouldn't check them. Easy to tell whether or not they've been wound back too.
