18th-19th Movember

Post by wopass »

well im gonna start the weekends achievements off early :D mainly because i have just come in from the garage and ive managed to get my cruiser back on all of its wheels and able to drive it  ...

AAaaannd i got motivated to pull the clutch cover case off my KTM to fix the gearbox oil leak that has been bugging me all week, if i had the new gaskets here i would have put it all back together and had that finished as well... but i havent ordered them yet so thats a bit optimistic

will take some pics tomorrow and post them here...... if i remember

Finished welding the supports for my tanks, permently mounted one of em, one was fallingout of its cradle so "sellys liquid nails" its ass back in there. did some sheet metal work and lined the seat box - was quite fun actually. I would love to get a little bender or make one I think. Went to go get the liquid nails and pulled out of the drive and the bloody head is either cracked or blown its gasket. I'm starting to think if its the head cracked and they cost like 2k then maybe v8 should be going in there :D

lotsa work planned today for the old girl.

$1,200 for basic head from Toyota... When I paid for the head to be done it was 2k.

butSpent the day in Neils shed getting ready for round 2 of the Nationals next w/e. Had to sort the CV that we broke last w/e playing
Apparantly it was my fault - came up a steep hill with my side front wheel in the air, locker gets switched off & I pull on the steering brake ........ locker hasn't disengaged & the CV goes POP   I refuse to take reponsibility as we have a cunning system to stop me f#&$ing up :!: A big red LED light comes on in front of me when the front locker is in & it goes out when the switch is flicked off .......... but on occaision the locker doesn't disengage as fast as the light ........... hence it's my fault   go figure   Ask any co-driver it's always our fault :!: :!:
Anyway replaced the CV, checked the diff, cleaned out the brakes, straightened the steering arm - after a little touching incident with a tree at 100+km/h during club champs awhile back (we must have hit the tree bloody hard as the arm's made out of schedule 80 steel!!!!!!!!), new brake pads in the back & then several beers before the missus came to pick me up. Not a bad day in all.
If at first you don't succeed .... Get a bigger hammer!!

Mammoth progess on the LR today. People thought I was optimistic yesterday when I said I wanted it going by end of today.

late yesterday afternoon

Image

And tonight.

Image

Drove it onto the lawn and back into the car port. Put my foot on the brakes (after spending an hour bleeding the dam things, twin lines to each front wheel) and nearly went through the windscreen. The brakes seem to be scarely good  Power steering made turning the old girl a breeze too :D

Just a few things to tidy up (like a couple of holes in the floors )

I believe one of the longest projects if not the longest on this site has nearly finished its initial build phase :D :D :D  Thats a big achievment this weekend/year for me.

Cleared out some Landy parts that have been messing up the rumpus room - Wheels/Tyres/Susp arms/etc (few xmas bbqs lined up at our place so missus put her foot down to clear it out).

Thought about cleaning LP after last trial but thought its going to get a hell of a lot worse at the ORE bbq coming up so it can wait

LANDY parts...... you got any stuff we might need/ like o/drive unit?

How about 16 inch jap sixstud wheels? we want four rims, cos the donor truck came with 4 good tyres, but Driving wagon has got FJ 40 axles. (we think they might actually be 60 series, ask ben later...)

Went to Blenheim and Nelson for the three days of Canterbury show weekend.
Were planning to do the Mongatapu track from Pelerous Bridge to Nelson but this is what the rivers looked like.
As the other 4WD that was with us was a very shiney we decided to stick to the seal

Rugby was out of the question :!: :!: :!:

And this was the Wairau River on the way back.
