Cleaning birfields

Post by drive it ... »

Ok, so I'v poked around with kero and a small paintbrush getting old cruddy grease out. Not too keen on trying to break the ring and split the join. So does it matter if there's a bit of kero/grease slop still in the join before I pack new grease in?
Should I attack with aerosol brake cleaner?
Cheers from the guy who thinks he's seeing way more of the inside of his truck than he's competent to.

leav it soaking in kero or petrol although diesel works well over night, then rinse it out and blow what ya can out with air, once dry pack the joint from one side only till the grease comes out the other, removes air pockets etc. then ya should be good.
