Arb compressor uses

Post by tuff lux »

Can u use a arb compressor to full a air tank for on board air? Or do u need pressure switches etc. would the small ones do it or would u need the twin motor one? Cheers

Not sure about the ARB compressor. I did a set up with the aircon pump filling the tank and used an ARB pressure switch to control the magnetic clutch on the pump.

You can but it will take ages to fill the tank and you might want to look at the duty cycle of the compressor. The pressure switch just needs to be left in the system and it'll still operate normally.

I wouldn't want to run it for extended periods of time, since it was only designed to charge up air lines for the lockers.

Someone previously mentioned the duty cycle could be a true issue, but the biggest pain in the ass would be the amount of time required for it to keep up with the air being used from the tank. In short, it won't.

As long as you have a pressure switch of the correct on/off pressures, therre is nothing stopping you from using a larger non ARB compressor charging a tank.

Ive got twin motor arb compressor with a 1 gallon tank .... is a great piece of kit.
Has built in pressure switch ...turns off at about 150psi.
Takes about 25 seconds to fill a 33" tyre from 18 to 35 psi.
Is 100% duty cycle...pulls around 80Amps so I leave engine running while I use it.

If you just want to pump your tyres up there are plenty of cheap compressors around. We tried using the ARB CKMA12 (mid sized compressor) but was just to slow so went back to our cheap compressor. The ARB works great for the lockers and ok with the horn.

I-Parcel rate of $233.96 includes GST and customs charges. I-Parcel estimates everything up front and charges. Parcel is then delivered locally by CourierPost. It works out to about NZ$314 each on that deal.

You could always get this: http://www.quadratec.com/products/92043_610.htm

Lately Quadratec is doing better freight deals than SummitRacing. I just paid USD 130 freight for my soft top from Quadratec via DHL Express. Just got delivered today.
