Heya,
I have a 1kzte ssrx surf with 250kms on the clock. Just spent 1k getting a warrant so im.a tad broke. Well I was driving along today when there was a loud bang and it turns out I have blown a frostplug. The one right at the very back of the motor. Does anyone have any genius ideas how to get one in there or am I going to need to get a mechanic to pull the engine out? Has anyone had this happen before and know approx costs??
Cheers guys

Did it get driven after the bang?
Options to access would be gearbox out, engine out, or head off. If its been driven since, then it will be overheated- maybe just take head off and put another one on. They don't take kindly to overheating.

The engine ran for a max of 20 seconds after the bang. I pulled right over enfine off and lifted the bonnet. Was really concerned that I jad blown the head. Is removing the auto gearbox a big job?

If it was me i would be looking at any way possible to replace it insitu.
Maybe removing engine mounts might allow you to pivot it down enough to get inbetween the firewall and rear of block/head. Might need to remove fan or radiator. If working from the top, remove the bonnet.
If you do fix it insitu then run it and see what happens. Nothing to lose.
If you have done more damage, its head off / engine out etc etc.
Would be a shame if you pull motor or box to replace plug only to find out you have cracked a head after doing all that work.

Remove radiator and undo engine mounts and gearbox mount and driveshafts and exhaust and the motor comes forward easily to get to the plug.
Only a little more to take it fully out if yoiu need to.
