Westcoast easter weekend

Post by imsohi »

We had planned to do chasm today with the nelson and Marlborough clubs but to much rain has made the grey inpassable. Yesterday the clubs put a huge effort into opening up the Mt Greenland track to the top ALOT of trees down and I would recommend anyone going in there to take a chainsaw as there is one area that still needs some trimming to get past without dammage on the way back through. Today we will be heading into Liverpool bills and German gully. Will keep you posted.

Good effort on clearing the windfall from Mt Greenland track. Did you go down the back to the hut?

We did a fair bit of clearing in Liverpool bills last queens birthday. Could hardly see the track in places. Good wee track through there.

No by the time we got to the top it was about 3.30 and we had one vehicle with a broken axle so decided to turn around. Did Liverpool bills yesterday wad a good drive and still clear of trees, cockeye creek was a different story tho another 3 hours clearing trees we got to the end of the creek where it goes to forestry but with more trees down decided to turn back again we got out around 5. A BIG thanks goes out to the Nelson and Marlborough 4wd clubs for there time and effort.

Sounds like you guys put in a good solid effort on the track clearing side of things in the weekend.
Thanks for doing your bit as if all 4wders in general did a day a year the tracks would be a lot easier to maintain.

Cheers
Nigel.

Hi
good job with the chainsaw! Amazing how much longer it takes to do a track, we did Mt greenland up and back (just to the top as it was thick fog) in about 4 hours with a couple of holdups. How was the blue goup?

Thanks guys

I didn't mind much about the chainsawing as I had just brought a new to me sthil 023 so was keen to get some practice in with more experienced saw experts. The bog was good for me no hassle then was fun towatch the rest pick their lines and either make it Or sink lol.
