We have a 1999 Wizard that the notorious 4jx1 let go in last year, so now are putting a 3.8 into it. Have the full commodore (VR Auto with series 1 engine) but auto trans is blown so not using holden trans. What I am wondering is how people have made their adapter plates and engine mounts for a conversion like this? Adapter plate especially. At this stage I will use the holden flexplate and get it modded to suit the isuzu torque converter(I suppose since the isuzu flex plate sticks out so far from the engine compared to the holden one, plus the thickness of the adapter plate, i will have to have spacers between the converter and flex plate as well).
Any ideas/tips and pictures would be great. Cheers

the idea is to bolt the isuzu transfer to the GM box. as the shafts on the output are the same. and using the isuzu box will put the engines power band all out of whack.
strongly recommend finding another auto box for the engine your life will be so much easier.

Yeah personally I would like to do that, but my father who owns it would like to use the isuzu box. If i can sway him it would be great as we have the 3.1 mu auto transfer that fits the box exactly bar the spline length. At the moment im just researching how he wants it done to figure out the options. Cheers

keep the transfer, ring around the wreckers see if you can do a swap to lessen the financial blow.
