I wouldn't spend any more money on a Dana 35c necessarily. LSDs can be had for both Dana 30 and 35c.

Can you be specific which year and model of XJ you have.

Going by 97 XJ, here is an option for the front D30:

For D35c: http://www.quadratec.com/products/16104_003.htm

Have a look here: http://www.quadratec.com/category/Jeep+Lockers/55/index.htm

Yea I know they're not worth spending big bucks on but if I could pick up a factory one shouldnt cost a kings ransom. While were on the topic whats the easiest option for complete swap out. Id prefer a straight bolt in option but have access to an unloved exploder so may be able to rape that for its rear end.

What rear end is on that explorer? I don't experience with it from Explorer into XJ. LSDs, Powertrax for open diffs should be relatively easy to put in. If all explods, then upgrade the rear end? Upto 32/33" tyres are not as detrimental as 35" tyres are on Dana 35c. The biggest problem is when the axle breaks, there is nothing holding it in. Any axle can break, but Dana 44 stays in place and can be driven (most of the times).

Only running 31s at the moment was going to go to 32s. I dont intend on any massive missions but an lsd would make it alot more capable.

Try driving the way it is for a few trips and see how it goes. Then decide if you need LSD or you can wait for lockers (once budget builds).
