Nissan Terrano II (menstrual) ETi injector pump

Hi from Auckland.
I own the facelift model and have been having a few issues with the injector pump playing up. I've read a few threads regarding this common issue regarding the pump issues etc. However I do not want to recondition this ETi pump, not a fan of electronic wizardry. I have a list of mods/upgrades I want to do (QD32, custom exhaust manifold, TD04HL-15/19T, 63mm exhaust system etc) and this vehicle is my daily driver (can't afford to have it off the road for long, work, kids etc)
What I want to do is convert the truck to run the mechanical pump from the earlier model, so I bought one and will have it reconditioned shortly along with the injectors. Vehicle is 320k+ and I assume everything is original (looks that way at least)
I believe the TPS is attached to the eti pump and with my limited knowledge of the electronic wizardry required to complete said task, I decided to seek the knowledge of the "experts". I began with MotorTech - have dealt with them previously and found them very helpful, but they don't know of any one who has done what I want to do. They referred me to Pete at Tauranga Diesel Services, again someone helpful but not his expertise. He mentioned the tps, auto box being controlled by the ecu, possible dash lights not working etc - best to talk to Gearbox specialist. So rang the Gearbox Factory in East Tamaki. Have previously spoken to them about upgrading the auto box (one of the upgrades planned to do), again my issue not something they have come across best to talk to an auto sparky - didn't bother and decided to ask here.
I have an accelerator cable but I do not know how to get around the tps issue. It has been mentioned in a few threads (possibly different site, memory bit fuzzy at times) but not enough for me to understand how to go about completing the conversion. I also do not want to cock something up nor run into other issues possibly created by what I am trying to achieve and be stuck with a non-operational vehicle.
Has anyone here completed the conversion and is prepared to help me please and set me straight on what is required to do or am I barking up the wrong tree here? Should I just recondition the original pump and chip the computer to increase fuel when I have upgraded the gearbox and installed bigger motor/turbo.
Be good to know what you guys think and recommend - other than save $20k and buy a GU.
