g16a rebuild

Post by 93beachbasher »

Hi
How much would you expect to pay to have a g16a out of a suzuki escudo rebuild from the ground up including new head. How hard would it be to do it a home. I have experance at replacing hole engines but have never pulled one to bits.

Well the rebuild of mine has cost roughly $2000, that includes a new head at $900, second hand crank $290, rebuild cam $300ish, also rebuild kit $500 which has all new bearings pistons and rings, water and oil pump, gasket set timing kit etc plus a few other bits and bobs like head bolts and crank timing pulley. I've done it all myself at home but I'm a mechanic, they're easy enough to do if you have the gear and the engine specs to go on.

Make sure head gasket is fitted the right way around as it is possible to fit it in a way that blocks an oil gallery to the head.
