Hey guys gotta 02 1kz hilux thats seemed to develop a squealing noise in the last few weeks.
Its not constant when driving ,but usually really bad on first start up when cold. The thing is it disappears as soon as i depress the clutch

I've tightened all the belts recently , and a rough google search seems to mention something about a worn throw out bearing in the clutch

Has anyone come across anything like this before? its starting to drive me nuts :x :D
Cheers

My 96 1kz-te prado had a funny squeal (kind of) and it turned out to be the fuel return valve thingee. I thought it was a gearbox issue too.

Neither the spigot bearing or release bearing are in play when the clutch is engaged so can rule those out. Sure the belts aren't slipping, really does sound like that.

Re read the first post, the noise disappears when he puts his foot on the clutch, so when the release bearing gets pressure applied to it from the clutch fingers the noise stops.
Spigot spins more when in neutral as it has a driven outer and a stationary centre, when in gear the input shaft spins at the same speed as the flywheel so shouldn't make a noise then.
If the vehicle is stationary and nothing else is under load when depressing the clutch and the noise changes or disappears then I would suspect the release/throw out bearing is the culprit.

Yes but release bearing shouldn't be contacting pressure plate if your foot isn't on the clutch I would have thought?

Had a look again this morning, belts aren't perfectly tight but don't seem to be the cause of the noise , definitely is coming from the gear box clutch area

Could even be the dual mass flywheel
