Fj40 Handbrake

Hi All, I am try ing to remove the handbrake cable from the transfer case to remove the engine in my 40.

I have removed the drum and unhooked the cable from inside. Should the cable now just slip back out the hole or am i missing something.

Hints tricks suggestions please

There is a circlip at the drum end....
