Tyres - Again....

Post by Stuck »

Hey guys,

First post on the forum, havent needed to ask questions yet, its all been asked before! That search button is awesome...

Anyways, bought a terrano a couple months back, because theyre the best 4x4 produced to date

This is the beast here...
Image

Thing I wanna change is these tyres... It came on a set of new savero 30/9.50/15's, on 6.5" rims.. I wanna go bigger, so this doesnt happen so much
Image

Im not really all that keen on going taller, just wider would be nice... But from what I can find, to go much wider, I have to go taller..?? I dont mind going up to a 31, but anymore than that and the beast will be a little too slow off the mark...

I got some 15x8 white spoke steel wheels on the way so I can get rid of the poxy 6.5's...

The ideal size Id like to see on there would be 31/11.5/15, or even better again, 31/12.5/15..

Any advice much appreciated!!

Oh and the wagon is standard height, IFS, coils at the back.. Ill get round to lifting it maybe, at a later date..

There arent many tyres that come wider than 10.5" in a 31, mudzilla, baja claw and boggers are the commonly available tires wider than 10.5. I fyou are going to keep the saveros as your daily driver tyres and swap another set for off road then go for one of those. If they are your daily driver tires aswell then go for a set of 31x10.5x15 Goodyear MTR's

I think 31's scrub on a teranno unless lifted, may pay to try before you buy.

Wow cheers for all the great responses!

From what Doddzee said, looks like 10.5's might have to be the go.. Wonder why they dont go bigger than 10.5 on a 31"??

Ryan, nice to see some terrano action from you and albundy! Mind if I ask how much your lift cost you? And what parts did you replace? From what I understand, its best to get new/longer front shocks if windin up the tortion bars?? Just bigger springs and longer shocks in the back?

Oh and the beast in the backround would be our homemade buggy.. powered by an old 1800cc toyota mota (3T) and driveline.. Pretty damn fun in the dunes! This is the only pic iv got of it, from when I got a flat tire in the middle of no where, without a jack

Hey there

I bought some 31x10.5 r15 pirreli scorpian mud tyres. Great tyres have nice lugs on the side walls and are fairly wide for a 31. I would recommend them
cheers

thats not a bad tyre either.. do you have to swap them on each time you go out though?

Ill be using the tyres as daily drivers as well as out on the tracks.. (shoulda said that before)

The tyres that are on it now, does anybody know much about them? I guess there a cheap asian tyre, but I like them, if only they were wider..

Sounds good to me, but its still a stock standard terrano on 30x9.5's, so take it easy lol! Ill keep an eye out in that section for sure! Thats not your 4x4 that parks outside a car yard on heads rd is it? By mitre 10, just down from the VTNZ? I saw a very very new looking ssangyong (sp?) there today, but theres usually a black one parked outside there daily

Nope, that ones far too straight and clean to be me!!

mine has hooks, a skid pan, Offroadexpress sticker on back window and a special hand-applied gloss removed finish to the paint work.

look under "project/mods"- "The Korando Project" for some of the pics.
