OK so this probably sounds dumb but how do you get these apart? I scored a pair of these for nothing because one of the brackets is broken, but looks like I can just add some extra rivets, if I can get them open haha.
So I got the covers off, take screw out of the rim and presumed the rim should just come off but it doesn't seem to budge and don't want to force it in case I'm missing something

Grab a screw driver and work it around the rim, they are a tight fit

Yeah the ones i scored free were also damaged like you describe. Just popped that ring off. its quite thin though so take it easy as it can deform. I just drilled three holes and riveted the bracket.

Yeah looks like the bottom rivets have rusted away and allowed the bracket to crack in the middle so I figured easy enough to drill some extra holes and rivet provided they weren't sealed beams lol
